User meeting 2019

The annual update-texware user meeting took place again on November 7 and 8. This time with a special highlight: we were guests of our customer, ANKER Gebr. Schoeller GmbH + Co KG, in Düren.

At the beginning of the event, the 40 or so participants were given an exclusive look behind the scenes of Germany's oldest and largest carpet weaving mill by authorized signatory and IT manager Kamillus Wojczyk.

As part of our partnership in a joint EU-funded research project, we were able to get Andreas Böhm from the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. in Chemnitz to present an exciting area:

"iTEXFer - Development of networked production systems and value-added stages within the framework of the factory life cycle in the textile industry"

is the topic of a project dealing with Industry 4.0 and the latest technical possibilities in this area. As "inspiration", we gave away a sensor with a W-LAN module to all participants, which can be used, for example, to make production machines network-compatible and PDA-capable.

This was followed by the relaxed part of the day: after a mulled wine reception at the hotel and a short walk into the city center of Düren, the participants were well catered for in the "Brauhaus". An atmospheric end to the first day of the event and a good opportunity to exchange ideas, make contacts or even consider joint projects.

The second day of the event was opened by update-texware colleagues Petra Hoffmann and Martin Speidel. They presented the "texware/CS-NEWS" using live examples to demonstrate the functions of the texware/CS-version 20.1 and gave an outlook on the developments, innovations and functional enhancements that users can expect in the next release. Release 20.1 will be available from the end of March 2020.

We were also able to welcome our database supplier Progress Software GmbH again this year. Mr. Julian Steiner presented "Progress® NativeChat" an innovative platform with artificial intelligence for creating and deploying specially developed chatbots. A chatbot automates certain predefined tasks by interacting with a user via a chat interface. Generally, these interactions are simple, straightforward, human-like and can take the form of text or voice. Chatbots are also on the rise in the B2B sector. However, there is a lot to consider for companies that want to enter the world of chatbots - Mr. Steiner was available to answer questions directly from the participants.

Both days of the event provided the space for discussions, questions and the exchange of experiences on the use of ERP software texware/CS and suggestions for possible cooperation.

We would like to thank all participants and speakers for their contribution to a successful event and look forward to seeing you again next year on November 12 and 13, 2020.
