Textile factory of the future

In order to be able to continue producing economically in a high-wage country like Germany in the future, investments are required to increase efficiency and optimize business processes. Industry 4.0 and digital transformation are strong drivers here.

The textile industry is also aware of the opportunities offered by digitalization. Above all, the specifics of the textile material and the textile value chain must be taken into account - industry-specific solutions are urgently needed.

futureTEX research and test field: "Textile factory of the future"

In the futureTEX research and test field "Textile Factory of the Future" at the STFI, solutions for different textile technologies, degrees of automation and process stages for the textile industry are made tangible and prepared in a practical way. The expertise of both industrial and scientific partners is pooled here.

Two demonstration lines for the production of technical textiles are available as a demonstration and test environment. The focus is on the topics of networked production and self-optimizing production based on continuous nonwoven production.

The following topics, among others, are covered:

Networked production along the various Industry 4.0 stages.

Objective: Participation opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises

Interested companies can use these demonstrators to experience the practical, sector-specific implementation of Industry 4.0 concepts and experiment with them in order to ideally transfer solutions to their own processes.

At the same time, it offers the opportunity to provide small and medium-sized textile companies with training and education-related support for the digital transformation.

Our responsibilities: Development of software components for agile order control with a large number of variants and small batch sizes, as well as for machine-PPS coupling, machine data evaluation and machine parameterization.
